      Troubleshooting Intermittent Disconnects      
   

This problem is usually caused by the call waiting feature of your local telephone company or the Idle Disconnect setting under your modem properties.
 

  • Make sure you do not have any other services on the phone line such as call waiting. In most cases you can disable call waiting on a call by call basis by dialing a prefix before the access number. For most telephone companies this code is "*70".
  • Ensure the Idle Disconnect settings have not been set. To check this setting follow the steps below.
  • In Internet Explorer click on Tools > Internet Options.

 

  • Click on the Connections Tab.

 

  • Click the Settings button.

 

  • Click the Properties button.

 

  • Click on the Options Tab.

 

  • Set the option "Idle time before hanging up" to never.
  • Click OK and reconnect to the Internet.
